Searching

As with searching databases, the easiest way to perform a search is to enter your subject keywords and see what happens. When using a search engine to search the web this will usually return many thousands (or millions) of irrelevant results. The world wide web contains so much information that it can sometimes seem impossible to conduct research without looking through pages of irrelevant results.

In order to search effectively you must translate your subject keywords into the language of search engines. Therefore you need to understand how search engines (and other search tools) work and how to use them effectively:
